PG&E Outage

Over the Labor Day weekend, our community suffered a prolonged power outage. Although PG&E crews worked diligently to locate the problem and restore power, our community was without power for approximately 34 hours.

Unfortunately, during the past several years, we have suffered a number of lengthy outages primarily as a result of the Dixie Fire, which significantly damaged the electrical distribution network in the burned area near us. As a result of these outages, many of our residents have purchased small gas generators to keep important appliances (refrigerator/freezers, communication equipment, medical devices, etc.) operating during prolonged outages.

If you find yourself using these gas generators, please use them only in well-ventilated areas outside of your cabins. Please do not operate them inside of structures as the resulting fumes can be deadly. This also includes other confined spaces including under decks or in detached closets/storage areas. In addition, please consider installing carbon monoxide detectors in your cabins as they, along with smoke detectors, save lives.

If you decide to leave your cabin during an outage, please double check to see that you have turned off any heat producing appliances (stove tops, heaters, etc.) which you may have left on when the outage first occurred. This is particularly important if you will not be returning to your cabin for an extended period of time.
