The Bucks Lake Fire Department is a small volunteer fire/rescue/EMS service located in the beautiful mountain community of Bucks Lake in rural Plumas County, California.
The Bucks Lake basin is located entirely within the Plumas National Forest and is home to a number of resorts, campgrounds, seasonal cabins and many miles of recreational trails including a busy section of the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). The 23,000-acre Bucks Lake Wilderness provides an excellent area for wilderness hiking and horseback riding.
Bucks Lake is a reservoir at sitting at 5,167 feet of elevation and is operated by Pacific Gas & Electric company. The lake covers 1,827 acres with 14 miles of shoreline. During the late Spring, Summer, and early Fall months, visitors from all over California and northern Nevada come to the lake to enjoy a variety of aquatic activities including fishing, swimming, boating, and water skiing.
During the Winter and early Spring months, snow sports enthusiasts travel to the Bucks Lake basin to enjoy a large network of groomed snowmobile trails as well as to partake in cross country skiing.
