Vehicle Extrication Training — Jaws of Life
On Saturday, August 24th, our volunteer firefighters attended an excellent all day training course on vehicle extrication techniques hosted by the Quincy Fire Department (QFD). These types of courses are important as we occasionally respond to vehicle accidents (particularly on the Oroville-Quincy Highway) where vehicles are overturned and/or passengers are trapped inside. The proper use of heavy-duty extrication tools (such as the “Jaws of Life”) is very important to safely conduct these types of rescues. During this training, our firefighters were able to cut open several previously wrecked vehicles to see how the tools perform.
